After a very small summer ten days ago it appears that winter has returned for the start of Euro 2012!
The competition starts on Friday 8th when Poland and and the Czech Republic play their first opponents at 5pm and 7.45pm respectively. All of the 7.45pm games can be seen live at the Club which includes England's second and third game on the 15th and 19th June.
England's first game takes place on Monday 11th June at 5pm againstFrance. The bar will be open from 4.45pm and the game will be shown live. England's second game kicks off at 7.45pm on Friday 15th againstSweden.
On our own playing surfaces the cricket teams suffered a disappointing weekend with only the third team managing to secure a victory. The first team suffered a heavy ten wicket defeat at Oxton whilst the second team could only draw at home to Cheadle. This weekend the first team host another local rival in Chester Boughton Hall and then take on Bootle on Sunday in the National Knockout at 1pm.
In between all of the above the third test match against the West Indieswill be taking place.
For all of you who have fond memories of the green cricket pavilion, please note that as of this Friday it will be no more! Fred Dibnah will be moving in on Friday morning to huff and puff and blow it down as part of the initial stages of the new back pitch pavilion development. There should be minimal disruption as it is not expected to take a great deal of time!
The replacement of the old boiler is now complete and those that do make use of the showers will have noticed the difference in temperature and water pressure. There is a little more work that needs to be completed before any central heating can be used, but of course in this present heatwave that won't be necessary anyway!!
Until next time
Andy
